Yoga. Sound Healing. Ayurvedic Nutrition. Scented Candles.
My Story...

Hello, I’m Joanna:)

Yoga, music, traveling, snow, candles, and tea are some of the things I love. And of course, my family – my two kids and husband.
I was born and raised in Athens, Greece, and moved to beautiful Switzerland with my family five years ago. I have always been active and curious about learning, and challenging myself is what drives me.
I began dancing ballet at the age of 3, still dancing, and also played tennis for a while. Besides yoga, I love Pilates and do it regularly. Yoga, Ayurveda, and using candles during my practice and at home have helped me through difficult times and contributed to changing and improving my life.
Yoga has been a path that guided me away from anxiety, and suffering. The mindful movement, breath awareness, and meditation have anchored me and helped me restore my optimism and joy for life.
After my first child was born, I developed more interest in healthy nutrition and a balanced diet. When my second child developed a dairy allergy as a newborn, I knew that a healthy diet is the key to healthy living.
I cook every day for 4 persons so I know that time is precious. My goal is to create nutritious dishes that are quick, easy, and delicious for the whole family. (As a family of Greeks, we love spending time in our kitchen cooking and eating, and of course, I love preparing Greek dishes, but this is another story…)
After completing my first 200hr Yoga Teacher Training I studied Ayurvedic Nutrition and started incorporating its principles into my everyday life. This helped me improve my gut health, overcome seasonal allergies, and find mental clarity and stability. I also learned how to prevent burnout, which I was on the verge of experiencing at that time.
I started making candles as a creative hobby and a way to relieve stress, but it quickly turned into a true passion for this craft. Now, I incorporate candles, fragrances, yoga, and Ayurveda into my daily routine at home and when teaching yoga, creating a peaceful oasis for finding peace and quiet.
Aromatherapy and blending essential oils have become significant in my life. The first essential oil I used was Ylang Ylang, and I still remember how its soothing aroma calmed me instantly and helped me relax before bedtime. I realized that I wanted to explore what Aromatherapy offers, so I decided to study it and learn how essential oils can promote our health and wellbeing.

After experiencing the benefits of Yoga, Ayurvedic Nutrition, Candles, and Aromatherapy, my goal is to help more people find balance and enjoy their lives.

Why Ajnayoga

People often ask me how I came up with the name Ajnayoga. So here's why!

Ajna is a Sanskrit word which means "command", "perceive", or "beyond wisdom" and is pronounced like "ARG-nya".

In Yoga, Ajna is s the 6th chakra (energy center), or third eye, which is located between the eyes, behind the eyebrow center. Simply put, it is our inner teacher, the center of intuition and insight.

I believe that every single one of us has an inner guide, and the practices of Yoga and Ayurveda are here to help us in re-establishing our connection with our inner guidance and wisdom.

Namaste and hope to see you in one of my classes soon!
